There must be more to this then just unfulfilled ambition. Toxic atmosphere? Stress? From the article it doesn't sound like any of those. I understand you are young and would like to do more and I'm happy for you that it's worked out. But the truth is that 99,5% of us engineers will not do anything remarkable in our careers. And once you get a family you want a job that is stable and predictable because you have enough problems at home.
