As somebody who works with both Kafka, Scala and Cats on a 4 year long project I just want to give you a warning. The tech stack is very complex. Kafka is very complicated, Scala is very complicated and cats is extremely complicated. So if you do decide to go with this tech stack do it for the right reasons because you will have a lot of problems finding qualified people.
